There’s a new build of the popular Kodi media center out. And HMD has confirmed what was probably obvious to anyone paying attention: the company isn’t making flagship phones right now, instead focusing on budget and mid-range devices. Here’s a roundup of recent tech news from around the web – and not all tech news is about new devices. One of my favorite stories making the rounds today is about resellers in China who are taking the screens off of old MacBooks and selling the remaining hardware as a sort of desktop computer with a built-in keyboard and mouse. It’s like the C64 meets the Mac Mini via upcycling. Rip the screen off an old MacBook and you basically have a Mac Mini with an integrated keyboard, touchpad and speakers. Apparently some resellers in China are offering these for around $125 – to $400. Ĭhinese phone maker Vivo is said to be prepared to launch its first smartphone with a foldable display. Codenamed Butterfly, it could launch in April to compete with foldables from Samsung, Oppo, Huawei, and Honor. Kodi 19.4 “Matrix” released with a number of bug fixes to the cross-platform, open source media center software, plus a few minor new features. HMD exec confirms that the company is focused on budget & mid-range phones for now rather than flagships.
